We are developing the DCS web site at www.dextercattlesociety.co.uk. I would be grateful if you could let me know if you have any technical difficulties. Fiona

Hello Fiona,

the DCS website certainly is the better for a dusting down and rearranging of the furniture, it is good to see it getting up to date and recent info appearing. Early on in the re-vamping there seemed to be a lot of blue text on very dark background which I found very difficult to read, but I see much of that has changed to yellow and it is much better, tho the remaining blue bits are difficult - maybe it happens automatically that links appear in blue. Maybe I should have my eyes tested.

Thanks for making such an improvement.

Hi

When I go to the more links page, you get page unfound and then when you click on the Back To hyperlink (not the back button), to go back to the home page, you get a double heading and then if you repeat it you just build up headings till there's no screen left. I also just managed to get the site up without any heading at all, but can't repeat it!

When you click on the logo, which is hyperlink, it doesn't do anything on my computer except maybe reload the page you're on?

Hope that's helpful.

Congratulations on the New Look, it seems our new Council is listening. I was very encouraged by the Council report, it seems some of our worries are being addressed. As far as site access is concerned, removing the blue is a big improvement for someone whose eyesight is not as good as it was. I am never certain when problems occur that it is not due to my not being an expert, but I find I get overwriting on occasions e.g. the heading ‘Council Matters’ is on top of the introduction, and further down the page ‘Report on Council Meeting on the 8th November’ is overwritten on the final paragraph. Is the problem something I am doing wrongly, or my machine, or are other folks having similar trouble? Thank you Fiona, for providing the listening ear.

Thanks for some comments - we have now removed the link "more links" that was causing trouble and repaired the logo.

You will also now find a downloadable file under show dates 2007 to allow you to down load and save the list of show dates for later printing. You will probably not be able to print directly from the web site.

Have received letter giving membership number and access code to allow online registrations.

Cannot get past the log on page, it says access denied contact breed society. (the access code i was given has four letters)

Am I trying before the system is up and running?

Anyone else had similar problems or does it work for you?

Have tried in both internet explorer and firefox as BCMS site doesn't like firefox.

I've just logged in OK using an intel Mac and Safari browser. I didn't do anything, just logged in to test.

Fiona

Can I add another comment? I think the permanent heading just takes up screen space and it would be better in practical terms without it.

PS. Also, just come back from the animal search facility, which is brill, and got that double-heading again. I used the Home Page Button and you get an extra heading every time you use it.

Have just tried the on-line access and it worked fine, only thing I couldn't find was where to log off.

I logged on yesterday with no problem, but also couldn't find how to log off. Looks really good and will help, I am sure, with Registrations arriving before 30 days! Searching for animals is also briliant, but it is sad to see how many Dexters have passed into the hands of non-members. I also got the double heading when I returned Home.
