Calve size - size of new born bull calves

The Heifer was 21months when it was inseminated this was because the vet had been concerned
she had been held back.She had been kept in a shed for most of her
life as previous owner had no land and he had only taken her on to help a widow. I do realise leaving it this late can mean the heifer can be to fat but his was ruled out by the vet.
Hopeful someone with knoledge will
make up a leaflet for us novices to
go with the dexter membership so we
no what to look for in a Bull as sadly

As has been said previously, Rachel, it sounds as if everything you did was OK. Unfortunately things sometimes happen when breeding livestock that just have no verifiable cause. Similarly, even if you had found lots of information it would not cover all eventualities. It is dreadfully bad luck that you had this experience with your first calving but hopefully things will improve from now on.
