Hanging Up Wellies

Post by Jac »

Unfortunately it comes to us all. After much heart searching I have finally decided to offer my entire herd up for dispersal. With the health testing just completed and the TB test very shortly it seems like as good a time as any so I have asked Mark to put them on the 'For Sale' Board. Going to take a couple of years to get rid of a lifetime of smallholding equipment but if I don't start now I never will and don't want to leave the responsibility to the family :(

Very sorry to hear that, could you not just change to a smaller size of wellies? I do hope your input into the general affairs of the Dexter breed will continue.

Oh. I was hoping this thread was going to be about the best way to store footwear. :( Very sorry to hear this Jac. Our neighbour has just given up his cattle to move to a smaller place and others have expressed similar intentions, at this rate cattle farming is going to be a thing of the past in East Yorkshire.

That defeats the object as I cannot get rid of the equipment and move on. Hope I can secure a good home for them all as it will be sad to see all 16 years breeding go into bags. Really nice 29 month old Knotting bred heifer going to slaughter Monday. :(

Hello Jacqui, sadly I realised that was not really a likely option, I am just sad to see anyone stopping keeping Dexters especially after such a long time and such active involvement with the breed as you have had. It must have been a difficult decision, I hope all goes smoothly.

Ok some of them in their scruffs (may take more than one post)- others wouldn't keep their noses away the camera.
