Dexters on the radio

Post by Rob R »

Our Dexters were on the radio this morning, unfortunately due to the time available they had to cut some bits out but they did emphasize the breed nicely. It's now available on iplayer for a month.

I just loved the strap line "A Yorkshire farm recreates North American buffalo herds, alongside the River Derwent." I'm sure the Dexters at Rosewood Farm stand taller and prouder now they realise they are emulating buffalo!!! The pictures above are fabulous, I love the red cows face!

Super picture of your red cow, do you think you could send the image into the DCS office so we could maybe use it for promotional purposes if that's ok with you.

I can't take any credit for either the photo or the cow, I'm afraid. She is Zanfara Twinkleberry, and her characteristic, regal face really stands out. I'll ask the photographer if he's got a bigger image and is willing to let us use it.

Of course you can take credit for the cow Rob, I expect you chose her? You keep her in such wonderful condition and in such a wonderful landscape. She looks rather smug in the pic as if she is on her best behaviour for the camera!!!

I'm afraid that she doesn't look in as good condition as she should following a nasty infection from an injury last winter that really knocked her back but her breeding is sound and I was lucky to have the opportunity to purchase her.

This should probably be in the "type" thread, but Twinkle is unmistakably one of her family. Her grandma is herd matriarch and her mum is heir apparent to the role. Many, many years ago Mrs Arkle commented that my cattle had "presence" when they came in the show ring. Heads up & alert, seeing who was a potential rival to dominate. I'd love to enter some of my girls in the Combat des Reines.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying her sister when I had the chance.
