I have given up trying to post mine on here, but plenty at the Burnside Dexter Cattle facebook page for anyone interested. Tried to post a direct link but cannot get it to work.

Mine are hosted on facebook, the problem is that one version of the link doesn't work! You have to open the picture in facebook, right click on it & select 'view image' then use the back button to go back to the facebook page, then click on the picture & 'copy image location' but the link (usually) will have changed to one with '_o.jpg' in the url rather than '_n.jpg' Insert this url between the tags, with no spaces, and the image should appear as above.

I think maybe now is the time for me to ask Chris if we can make uploading pictures a little more easier. Not sure how long it will take though, he is rather busy with work, so dont expect a quick fix for tommorrow.

I was going through some old pics and found this. It was my first dexter calf and I had been so confident I would have no problems as an ex dairy farmer....what I didn't know until she ballooned was that this little heifer had stolen the bull before I bought her! As you can see the calf was quite big for her. Even the vet couldn't budge it an inch it was stuck with its head turned down underneath itself to face behind. She was 20 months when she calved, she is still in my herd now, no fertility problems from the c section, she has had a calf every year.

Image

This huge chap which sadly you can only see a bit of was the daddy his name was Rhino!

Same calf just before he was weaned.

OK Rob - in that case I will make more effort, here goes!

Cows we love them although...

They are sometimes a bit disgusting..

Image

Itch when you are quite sure they shouldn't! Cos they have had the lot!!!

Image

Image

Know how to inspire a bit of camera shake! Yes they are bulls and I was in the field...

Image

Sometimes appear to argue over the tiniest thing.

Image

Sometimes move quite fast as one!

Image

But we love em don't we???!

Are they extra short Rob :) ....or do you have very long grass?

My cows would be SO jealous! And there isn't much worse than a jealous cow!

I'm trying to prevent my bull getting too obese, if the cows knew why they were on a diet they would lynch him.

No, they're all long legged :) Well, most of them. It's Ings grazing that hasn't had stock on it since before Christmas. It's actually shorter than when we first grazed it three years ago, as I don't think it had been grazed the previous year and had a lot more thistles and nettles in.
