N.E. Dexter Group Calf show

Looking forward to seeing a nice turn out of dexter owners at our calf show at thirsk auction mart tomorrow saturday 8th Nov.
Held by invitation of the N.E. A.A. Group ther will be a good turn out of other breeds and the excellant cafe is open all day for bacon butties or a full diner. Entries are closed but do come along and chat to other dexter owners.

I got the wooden spoon for worst-behaved animal in the ring. Naturally this was the one that has been extensively handled at home and has been shown once already. She has made it clear that she does not enjoy the show experience. The little red heifer, with minimal training, behaved very well. The judge did not like the colour of her nose. I'm tempted by the thought of lipstick but she'd either lick it off or smear it on my white coat. So, I'm resigned to bottom of the line if we go out next year. Someone's got to come last.

It was lovely to see so many nice animals and yes it was good to be inside on such a miserable day weather wise. congratulations to the winners and well done to every one for such good sportsmanship. Thank you to Steve our judge and Myrtle our steward. We had a few people at the ringside expressing an interest to have a go next year. So hopefully we will have a few new faces in the ring.
