Post by Mark Bowles »

Just recieved an email which i thought i would share.
Quote:-
For information, our Past President, Deirdre Hilton has been awarded an MBE for services to Dexter Cattle.

What an achievement for both Diedre and Dexter Cattle, well done.

I have just heard the news too, it is well deserved, not just for what Deirdre does but for the way she manages it.

I first met Deirdre and Howard at the RBST sale in 1991,when she bought two of my heifers.
She lived in Staffordshire at the time and moved to Ireland the following year.
I can remember her saying she wanted "to get the little cows back to Ireland".
There were about three herds in the south of Ireland at that time and a herd at Belfast Zoo in the north, that was about it.
I went to Judge over there this year and I was amazed at the number of cattle over there now. The little cows are back in Ireland with a vengeance - you've done it Deirdre!
Deirdre hasn't done it for monetary game - she has done it for sheer love of our breed.
We mustn't forget the man behind her though! Howard has supported her all the way and I think he deserves a medal too!
Thankyou so much for all you have done for our breed to both of you, for your enthusiasm and dedication and all your hard work.
Di
P.S. I want a picture of you in a hat Deirdre.
