Keep dreaming! We are still waiting but everyone else has fogotten about us all as usual. I want to eat my over 30 months even if I cannot sell any of the meat but still NO.
Jo
That rule can't last forever though surely. All the animals that ate the contaminated meal must have died off by now? There shouldn't be any danger of BSE from stock born over the last couple of years, should there?
Originally it (OTMS) was due to come off in Sept, but I think it has been delayed til a bunch of EU vets check our BSE Testing ability ( each OTM animal will have to be tested )
The last I heard it is possibly October'ish
Heard something on radio this morning can anyone confirm for me, it stated that the 30 month rule would be lifted in November if this is the case I'll be having Beef for christmas!
Slight correction, sorry, 7th November cattle born after 1st August 1996 allowed into food chain if they test negative for BSE. cattle born before that date still excluded.
Well, that's something at least. Guess the butchers in Britain are going to be VERY busy this Christmas. It'll ease your grazing situation too. You'll be able to get back to your usual herd size again. What are you all planning to do with your over 10 yr cows?
As I understand it there will still be some sort of (lesser) compensation scheme they can be sent to. It is the damned Government's fault this situation has arisen at all but I doubt they will se it like that. They consider themselves to be the peoples' saviours stopping the country's farmers from poisoning the whole population.
