Post by LISA »

Anyone going to the National Dexter Show? Cannot exhibit this year but hoping to go for the day. Three Counties Showground, Saturday 16th June, Judging starts 8am. Should be an excellent turnout of Dexter cattle.(Hope I have the details correct!)

Good Luck to all exhibitors for a sucessful and enjoyable weekend.

Best Wishes

Hello, Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the show today.

Please could someone report on who the Champion and Reserve Champion were? Thank you.

Lisa, where where you? The sun failed to shine as you may well be aware. It was a mudbath really.
Everyone endeavoured to get the job done with smiling faces, well most of the time.
Winner was Apple Coda, non short black senior bull.
Reserve was a Planetree short black in milk heifer, sorry didn't have a catalogue so not sure of her name. Silke deserved a medal for standing in the elements and judging for 5hrs then doing the dual purpose interbreed later in the afternoon and scheduled to do the young handles at 6 oclock this evening. One hell of a stint!

Sorry about the weather - just goes to show Dexter Exhibitors are like their animals - very hardy!!!

Congratulations to all the Winners and especially the Champion. I will look forward to all the usual lovely photos on this site.

Thank you.

three counties show seem to be on the ball with website details, 2012 results are online
use dropdown boxes to select cattle, then dexter, then class you want to view.

the reserve champion will have been PLANETREE NEPHELE

I am afraid the lovely pictures i wanted to take are virtually non existent. With the poor light, rain, muddy ground, mud over the cattle and exhibitors it was not a photogenic paradise! I have a photo of the bull that i need to save for DCS use but apart from that not much use.I will try again for some nice ones at Newbury in September, i think thats the month the weather people are predicting summer will start.

Just finished unpacking from 3 enjoyable days. It was dry in the caravan and dry in the cattle lines, elsewhere on the very soft side of very soft. Very difficult for judging both days as competitors were not keen to be out there never mind their animals. Silke Warnecke the National show judge worked all day in pretty well continous rain and came round the lines on Sunday, she spoke to all who were there and said she could not belive the quality of dexters there were on show. On Sunday the Dexter Rare Breed judge Mr Alderson who used to be a dexter judge could not belive the improvement in the breed since he last judged. The Dexter Rare Breed Champion on Sunday was young Jason Bennet's Cannington Jewel, R/U young Graham Hunt's Saltaire Apple. A big thank you to Sue Archer who kept us all up together and on time (even Graham Hunt!!) the ring stewards and all who manned the exibt stand and marquee. To those who did not go you dont know what your missing, it is a first class show with first class facilities, a superb Stockmans bar and restaurant and a very enjoyable stockmans dinner on the Saturday night. Well done to all who attended, looking forward to seeing you in the future.
