Lisa' correct about the full moon as we had one here last night and bingo another calf arrived, just one more to calve and that's my spring calves done.

:) :)

All we need now is for everything to dry up. It was wonderful here last week, now we have a swamp again

Had a bull calf 2pm yesterday. Had to have the vet out though as the cow was pushing and nothing happening, all that was showing was one foot. After the vet examined her he found the other foot was back on its self, so he straitened it out and we got to work with some calving ropes.
Wow what a pull. He just didnt seem to want to come. Well after about 15 to 20 mins he finally crossed the void and landed on our side, all be it a little week and wobaly.Really strugaling to feed himself, and the cow just seems to want to kill us.Still, managed to get some milk in him with him suckling the cow in the afternoon, and drew some milk off her in the evening, and as he would'nt suckle we got some in via a bag and tube.
Sill week this morning and not that hungry so will have another go later this afternoon.

Hello John,

Well done!!! Glad the calf is OK, hope it starts to suckle by itself for you soon!

Thanks every one for all your thoughts, and ideas. Calf and cow are really doing well now, and he is feeding on his own.
