I stayed in B+B recently and they had Water Buffalo, the remains of what had been their milking herd, some were from Rumania, can't remember where she said the rest were from. They were surprisingly friendly but apparently the meat isn't very tasty, its only selling point seems to be low cholesterol.

I suggested crossing for better beef but apparently they are an animal that cannot be bred with anything else - different chromasones or something.

Interesting animals BUT I shall be keeping to my nice small, tasty dexters! :D

But think of the mozzarella and curd (Indian yoghurt) you are missing! Dexter mozzarella is ok, and Dexter yoghurt is superb, but since I visited India 25 years ago I always have wanted a water buffalo. I think falling for Dexters may be some kind of projection.

The very first water buffalos came to Sweden recently, but I need to buy a bigger farm before I line up for buying one..

They look as cute as Dexters. A little to big for my prefernces. What a shame that they don´t taste good.

I appreciate thoose pictures very very much. Thanks for posting them!
