This is a question for those of you who show your cows regularly.

If a cow has a small extra teat at the rear of the udder, set well above the other teats, is this penalised in the show ring?

I would estimate this to be less than 1 cm long.

If the cow is otherwise conformant with the breed standard would it be wise to keep a bull calf from her
for breeding?

Hi Nick

the answer to the first question is yes and if the cow was mine the answer to the seconded would be No.

Extra teats are usually hereditary and in my personal opinion you should only keep bulls from the very best.

Its quite expensive to rear and register a bull and at the end of the day unless you are breeding for yourself you will probably get more money butchering a steer with much less trouble. :)

However I'm sure you will get more replies than mine to your question :) :)
