Hemlock, is it poisonousto cattle. We once had a lot of guinea pigs and rabbits die from it, but would like advice regarding cattle.
We would also like to thank everyone for their concern regarding Lotti's recent accident, which left her slightly more scatty than before.
Thanks Kelvin & Lottie James

Hemlock - Poisonous plant
From what I have read all parts of the plant are poisonous and can even cause birth defects.

Hemlock is seriously poisonous to cattle, most dangerous part is the root. It often grows around ditches and the danger comes when either the ditch is cleaned and roots exposed or when cattle damage the soil of the banks and the roots emerge. I have literally seen a cow dead with bits of root still in her mouth. There were lots of bits in the stomach as well. If there is danger of cattle getting access to roots the areas should be fenced off. If ditch cleaning where it is growing it is very important to be meticulous in removing any exposed roots.
