It took a bit of a pull and she wasn't breathing at first but she is healthy and 2 days old now! I apologise for the rubbish pic quality but I didn't want to scare them with a flash - any excuse!
She is a cutie though! This is Woodmagic Martin, with her first calf.
I shall post some better pics - when I manage to take some!
Yes she does have a name, the week she was born there was a pair of stonechats on our driveway every day flitting about, they are a small, chunky, pretty bird, so she is Duffryn Stonechat, seemed ideal somehow!
Ous have also finished calving, four calves every one a bull calf. We have no more due now until the spring, which means we have no heifer calves at all this year. Due to the foot and mouth and blue tongue restrictions last year, we were without a bull until the end of December, so we are really put out by the result, although they are all really good calves. I think we may just enter all four of them in the under 12 month classes in the shows next year.
Kelvin
At least its only 4 bull calves Kelvin. Last year we got 11 bull calves. This year, we have 8 heifer calves and 7 bull calves so far. Thanks goodness. There's 1 more cow to calve this month. Then another 4 heifers to calve in January. Imagine 20 bull calves! I'm so glad that last year was our bull year and not this year.
We got our first Grade 5 heifer calf this year. All 21 kgs of her. The first calf of our first Grade 4 calf.
