Hello Mark,

You often treat us to a lovely pic on the Main Page and I often wonder who is in it, the Dexters and for that matter the owner, when there is one.

So this time who is in your lovely photo and can you tell us a bit about it?

I, too, meant to comment about this excellent photo. I can identify the one with 2 legs, it is Graham Hunt, but not so sure about the pretty cow. Is it Northbrook Clarissa?

This photo is a well known northern illusionist trying to make a big cow look small. He is himself considerably larger than you would think, and the cow is 76" at the udder.

The cow is Seamer Supreme Aailyah, she was the 2008 Royal show champion, seen with her proud owner Mr Graham Hunt.
Nearly right Penny, Northbrook Clarrisa was reserve champion at the Royal 2008.

Thank you Mark,

The cow is positioned perfectly for a show photograph and has a very pretty head.

Thanks Saffy, as you have dabbled in "dexter" photos, it is very difficult to get a good photo. To get 1 i scrap about 30. Dexters i am afraid wont pose like other breeds, they dont seem to stand still for long. You only have to watch the grand parades at shows to see the dexters come in last in line and in complete turmoil.
I show myself and my cattle are just as bad no matter what i try. They only stand still with the prospect of a sugar beet pellet treat, i don,t think it would look good if i went into the ring with a black feed bucket to get the job done.
The two attributes to a good dexter photo is a digital camera with a large photo capacity and lots of patience

Oh YES Mark. I agree on every point.

Especially as on our first and so far only venture into the main ring with our little bull, shall I say he entertained the crowd a little more than we would have wished!

My first lesson on photographing Dexters was if you think perhaps I should take the photo, you are now already too late.

Glad to hear it's not just me that has trouble getting Dexters to pose for photos! The Northern Group runs a photo competition at the AGM in January. I'm not trying to win prizes although would like to take part but all my attempts so far have not been great! Will try the discard nearly all and have lots of patience theory!!
