Spring!! - When?
Primroses, violets, celandines, stitchwort, golden saxifrage, broom (of course), campion, ladies smock and bluebells just coming out. Swallows in profusion, mallard has ducklings on the pond which is almost black with tadpoles. Yes, I think it is safe to say Spring is sprung. And my poor, poor cattle are still in the barn waiting for their big adventure next Monday. I would so like to let them out but they would have to come in again almost immediately which would be even more disappointing for them.

I remembered Sue posting the wonderful picture of her herd playing dead when I looked out of the window last week and Spice was sprawled like this! No I didn't stop to take the pic I panicked and ran out of the house to find her contentedly chewing her cud, I took the pic this time though. :D
It seems she likes to lie like this in the sun on the exact spot that the other dun cow died of Mag deficiency last year!

Now we know why Clive said he was going to stop breeding from the smallest ones!
Actually they explained this very well in the well known educational programme - Father Ted - the one cow is "close" and the others are "far away"!
