Easter weather
Is my memory slipping, I'm sure last year at Easter I was wearing my shorts!
I had a nice long list of things to do on the farm over the holiday, I think the list will actually get longer rather than shorter with the weather we are having just now. A bitter northerly wind, rain, hail and snow, not what I would have ordered given the choice. Hopefully spring is just round the corner and the grass will start to grow and cows can go out, the sooner the better!

Yes, Easter is really early this year. Don´t remember when it occured last year, but it was much later.
Sweden had this winter´s coldest temperatures last night. For us about -10 degrees (Celsius) and in the northern part it was -36. Last weekend we had spring.. We also have had a dreadful northerly wind, snow, hail and are looking forward to at least a few more really cold nights. This winter we have had nothing of this kind of completely normal weather, until now. The coldness wouldn´t worried me if not the ewes had been sheered last week, now I feel quite bad about it. Bad weather ALWAYS seem to arrive when the sheering is done.. (It couldn´t wait much longer since it need to be done in good advance to the lambing that will take place in late April.)
Do I need to tell that the dexters not are worried about the cold weather..

this is apparently the earliest easter can be and we will not have another easter as early for around another 100 yrs which is why I guess none of us r remember it so early. Apparently it is something to do with the moon and Whitby abbey. the latest it can be is the last week of April which happens much more frequently.
There is something about it on country file tomorrow I believe.

Easter weather is a bit changable here! These pics were taken about 10 minutes apart!!!
I have noticed that I have put a picture of a lamb on a Dexter site but I am hoping you will let me get away with it as it is a pretty picture and it is Easter Sunday.
Both the lamb and the heifer went in a nice warm shed very soon - honest.

Your weather is mirroring ours, Stephanie. Left the house with a scarf wrapped round my neck (don't usually bother but I've got a lingering cold) - much too hot in the Spring sunshine. Got to the field of woolly whatsits we mustn't mention and the stinging hail was sweeping across the field horizontal. They won't lamb until next month if they know what is good for them. Even the collies looked thoroughly fed-up. Back to the cow barn, biting wind. Into the cow barn and a bit of work in there, more hail. Out again and past the somewhat flattened daffs and out comes the sun again. It's been like that all morning and more irritating weather it is hard to imagine. Very cheering picture though. :D

Wow Stephanie
The photo of the lamb is terrific and the Dexter photo is stunning. Why don't you join iStockphoto and upload your photos. That is possibly the best I've ever seen and I've looked at hundreds and hundreds of pro images of cattle, and the lamb one as well would be popular. Either you are a pro or you've got an incredible eye for a shot, or both.
The lamb looks like one of my Lleyns. I've had 4 lots of quads so far. One quin to come!
