Have a look at
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh....007.pdf
This should give a map of the new area. Anyone with movements pending should not be shy of phoning their local AHO and getting up to date info, do not rely on third parties, they are not always as on the ball as they should be.

Yesterday, Wednesday i had a recorded phone call from defra saying all was ok except for about four or five counties over to the east around London. They did say to go on their website Defra.gov.org for more information. Perhaps that might be an option for you Issy. Hope it works out.

There's an interactive map on the Defra site where you can enter your postcode and drill down to see where you are with respect the various protection zones:
http://www.gisdiseasemap.defra.gov.uk/i ... MD/map.jsp
I'm now within 200 metres of both the FMD restricted zone and the BT protection zone.

Colin,
Thanks for the "interactive" map. Very useful.
Rob,
I had a similar call and then discovered it wasn't quite that simple!!!

Chris and I are delighted, despite BT restrictions we managed to bring our little herd home yesterday!!!
An in calf dun cow with a black bull calf at foot, an in calf black heifer and a 6 month old weaned steer calf.
They will stay in the buildings for a day or two to settle but when they are tuned out I will post some pics to show them off! :D

Finally! What a relief for all concerned, given the untimely movement restrictions. Graham & I wish you all the best for your venture into Dexters.

Hello everyone,
At last our cattle are not only home but out in the field as of this morning and here are 2 pics to prove it. Doesn't the older dun cow look content with her mouth full of grass!!!
Thanks Veronica for your good wishes and kind words and thanks to everyone else for their generous thoughts and encouragement over the last year or so.
Most of all thank you Beryl for selling us such lovely animals!

Thank you for all those compliments everybody, it is lovely to see ‘Ginger’ looking so utterly blissful, and we are having a belated but welcome bonus in the weather at present. It is a pity that I have had no requests for bull calves this year, so shall shortly be steering the lot, I am not geared to carry them on, and only retain any that have been spoken for, like many I have had a very unfair ratio this year, and I think it is the first year I have not one purchaser for a bull, probably because of the crippling costs of registration.
Hi Beryl,
What a shame to have to steer the lot!
I expect the Foot and Mouth preventing people visiting made a difference to orders for bulls for you and for other breeders alike.
If anyone wants to look at Beryls bull calves without even going out of the house!!! There are some pics of them that I took back in the Summer on the Woodmagic Site, which you can get to through the thread "Woodmagic Dexters" but the pics were taken right at the beginning of July when they were quite immature.
