I was at York but in the sheep lines so didn't see the Dexters sold. I spoke to one vendor who sold 2 non short red bulling heifers at 140 & 160gns, she said a lot of stock were passed out.
Sheep: Manx Loaghtan top prices 30gns ram, 20gns ewe - breed champion & Reserve Interbreed Primitive Champion Shetland ewe Primitive Champion & Reserve Overall Interbreed Champion passed out at 90gns
Heb ewes started at 10gns but shearlings & lambs generally 20-40gns
One of the Teddy Bear breeds (South Down or Ryeland?) was selling at 220gns & passing at 175gns, which astounded me.
A lot of empty pens. Very few buyers.

I think the commercial trade is probably worse than the rare breeds I had also heard that the autioneers called a halt to a sale of ewe lambs because no one was bidding. The dexters at Chelford were what I would call plain and the lady who was selling the shetlands had lost her grazing and had no choice .
