NEW BREED RECORD(s) AT MELTON. - Bull price smashed by 1100gns.
Many congratulations to Mrs S.M Davies from Powys whose non short bull Watercress Wriggler M5472 (polled and black ) sold at Melton for 2300gns.This actually breaks two new breed records for price at auction. The previous bull record stood at 1200 ,a fantastic 1100gn increase.Wriggler can now also boast the overall non short record (previoulsy standing at 1350 with female Needles Hall Toffee )This was well deserved as he was presented to a high standard.Whilst i am abit sad to 'hand over' the non short breed record, this is fantastic for all of us,good prices for the right bull are possible. What an achievement in a Foot and Mouth/flood/shortage of hay and straw year! Well done Mrs Davis and Wriggler.

I paid £200 a good few years back for a short black cow that has produced 7 short heifers, 5 of which have been shown, 2 of which have won championships the other 3 have gained 1sts. 1 of the males was Linford Sage who was the DCS junior bull for 2003, is that a record? The cow is now nearly 13 and in calf again.
