I am so excited, the melton Mowbray sale IS going ahead.For anyone who has not been before the show is on Friday7th september and the all important sale on saturday8th. Catalogues can be downloaded from www.meltonmowbraymarket.com There is a good selection of Dexters entered and they are all inspected.Any failing inspection are clearly identified as rejects and usually sold last.Melton sale is a fantastic event I would highly recommend to anyone.Hope to see lots of you there.We have got two nice short legged ladies entered.I cannot wait,might just give my piggy bank a little rattle!

Lisa, as you say yourself, you are a sucker for an auction!
I dont quite know how they got the go ahead but who cares its on.
Lots of Dexters, especially reds i notice, bulls etc.. i will look forward to it and would recommend it, bring your cheque books.

I cant find the info on the defra site that says what the standstill period is for shows or markets.
21 or 20 days was mentioned but defra seem to indicate the only extra measures are tighter biosecurity at the venue and efficient tracibility. Does that mean that the 6 day standstill rule still applies.

We are looking forward to the sale and are very pleased that it is on. Just got to stop our daughter from bidding on anything, thats the only problem! hope to see lots of buyers there!

That brings back memories of sitting in Hereford market trying to hold my 2 year old sons arms down without him screaming the place down, to everyones obvious amusement except mine and the auctioneer!

I find recounting it amusing now though - he doesn't.

Thank you Lisa, Jenny doesn't need any encouragement! Our friend is threatening to tell the auctioneer that Jenny is old enough to bid (she is ten) on her own, so who knows what might happen. Looking forward to a good day anyway.

Only a slightly different note, I have just read my advert on the for sale board and it seems to read that our bull was affected by F & M , bad grammer on my part, of course I meant that due to movement restrictions he could not be shown at Blakesley or Moreton in Marsh shows as planned.
