I thought you may like to know that I have just been talking to the Head chef of Harvey Nichols, Leeds, who we supply, and he told me that he included our Dexter Beef in an event they held called "10 Things To Try Before You Die"!
They also included Waygu Kobe beef.
It is an honour for the beef to be included under this title, but the best bit is that those attending the event and trying the products preferred Dexter beef to Waygu . Yippee!

That's very interesting. I always thought that Wagyu beef would be better because of its excessive marbeling, but there you are. :D

Was it chefs that were judging the different meats? Or a variety of foodies.

It was the opinion of the foodies eating the beef. The chef just gave me the feedback. However, from his point of view he also preferred the Dexter as he found the Kobe beef so soft due to the marbling that it was hard to cut to prepare . He had to chill it to be able to cut it as he wanted.
I cannot take any credit for this promotion, it was Richard Walton Allen ( Exec.head chef)who wanted to feature our beef in this particular event.
I think the Dexters should take a bow!

Penny you are doing so much for the breed. Thankyou.
Have you thought about contacting Farmers Weekly and Farmers Guardian to tell them? They will often publish a story like yours and it is fantastic publicity for Dexters. Di

How right Di is, Penny does a great deal for the breed and is to be commended for it.

The Scottish Farmer this week has a short piece extolling the superiority of Wagyu, maybe we should try to get them to put a bit in about Dexter. Up to date Dexter is in short supply in Scotland but numbers are increasing, and there will be more available in the next 12 months than there ever has been before.
