Crush & Race

Post by beechhay »

We have recently started a new Dexter Herd (Beech Hay) and are very pleased with our cattle from several herds. We now need to make sure that we have a good, useful handling system in place. We would be grateful for information on race sizes, height of hurdles and width and of course the Dexter Crush.

We will be hoping to buy a second hand Dexter Crush if anyone has one, but due to the transport costs it will only be viable if purchased in the 50 miles radius from us at Cleobury Mortimer.

Any handy tips gratefully received – our stock are viewable at www.beechhay.com

Here's a previous topic that might be useful beechhay http://www.dextercattleforsale.co.uk/ph ... it=warrior

We use a standard IAE Warrior crush which is fine for dexters IMHO and will take our Angus bull as well....JUST !!!

I use a warrior crush, its a bit big for the shortlegs but fine for the non-short bulls. We use a yearling crush for the shorts and heifers. Get the galvanised version, more expensive but worth it.

Youve got some lovely cows, well done.

we use a standard crush, but we have no shorts. it takes our angus and our the dexters no bother.

Beechhay...we're near Much Wenlock, not a million miles away from you. If you want to come and have a look at our setup just email or call (details on our website), we're here most of the time.

Thank you very much for the information and offers to view. We have normal sized crush at the moment so perhaps will try that first.
