We woke up the other morning to a power cut, nothing strange about that. As I took my children to school I noticed the overhead electric cables were gone (approx 150 meters worth) with just a few strands blowing in the wind! Some total scum had knocked the 3 fuses off the junction box on the main road and then cut the 3 cables and gone down the field and cut the other end.
We were truely shocked (sadly I bet they had not been!) The electric company e-on were brilliant and had a new cable up within about 8 hours. The electic board man said it was thier 3rd replacement in a week in our area and with copper selling for £5000 a tonne it is now thier biggest problem. They replace it with a non desirable metal cable.
So for just an extra thing to worry about, look up as well! They must have done thier homework on us as they did not come within 50 yards of the house as we have 5 big German Shephards and English Mastiffs. If we had seen them they would have left with a little lead as well!

Best Wishes
Lisa

Amazing. You'd think that if a cable was removed they'd know about it straight away and send in the fuzz pronto.

That happened in our village before Christmas. Only on stretches where they weren't directly overlooked by houses close to the road so they must have been doing their research. Took out 3 different sections through the village, including one to the dairy farm, luckily he had a back up generator.
