We have just got back from Stoneleigh, the venue for this years Agrilive Smithfield. We were very pleased to see the Dexter Cattle Society had a stand along side some of the larger cattle societies, the stand was manned by our president Di Smith. We had been disappointed that the Society was not represented in September at the Dairy Event.
Congratulations to Felicity Thompson for taking two young finished steers and entering them into the Native Breed class.
Well done Felicity and thank you for raising the Dexter profile.
The event is open again tomorrow when some of the fat animals, cattle and sheep will be auctioned. Carcase displays and debates and forums on topics of interest. Open 9.0 -4.0
and a FREE entrance. We were able to park actually on the show ground so no long walks.

I too would publically like to thank Felicity, she put animals forward last year and was true to her word again this year. I know for a fact it is a considerable cost to enter and stay on site as well as all the time she has put in beforehand. Dexter again get a profile.

I would like to thank Felicity and Bob also. They presented the cattle superbly and were congratulated by other breeders- a credit to the breed.
We really must get more cattle there next year. If we can get 5 we can have a Dexter class.
I would also like to thank Eve and Val Friend who came up from Hampshire to man the stand for two days. I was on it some of the time but thay were the mainstay. Thankyou so much.
Prices were not good. The Champion beast made £5000 [compare with last years which was £15000.
Average price was170p/kilo.
Is anybody interested in having a workshop on presentation and feeding for prime stock showing? It is necessary to clip out and not many of us are experienced at that - I for one do not know how to do it. You can employ a professional clippie person to do it [or persuade Felicity !!]
If anybody is interested let our secretary know .
Let us build our street cred up.
