I know that the Older Cattle Disposal Scheme comes to an end in December of this year. Is it just the compensation that will be lost or will we have to pick up the complete disposal charge? I have looked on the DEFRA web site and cannot find anything.
I read somewhere that it is anticipated that farmers will have to pay for disposal after this time, but no definite decision yet.
It will depend on whether they want to keep testing these cows for BSE or not, possibly.
