I've spent quite a lot of time in the Middle East, so seeing sheep and cattle in cars and cattle, horses and camels on pickups isn't unusual. When I was much younger, my father bought a Friesian bull calf that eventually became his stock bull. My mother brought him home from Harrogate in the family Austin estate car. Some time later I proved that a Friesian heifer does fit in a mini-van, as do six Hampshire Down sheep, but not at the same time!

I had someone come to collect a North Ronaldsay tup once, he would only borrow it, did not want to go the whole hog and purchase it. He took it away in a Porsche, one with the nice sloping rear screen, North Ronaldsay nose just fitted nicely into the wedge shaped space. A dairy farmer just happened to arrive to collect some medicine as the Porsche was leaving, the look on his face was quite something.

Then there was the Dun dexter cow which arrived for service in a Bedford Rascal van, went in the back door but came out the front. Left by the same transport 6 weeks later.

Did a similar thing myself.

I was unimpressed that my favourite but rather large old Sufflok tup had been left at the main farm and not taken to the farm we kept the commercial flock on at tupping time. Nobody seemed to have the time to take him in any of the farm transport and my Mums Mini Elf was doing nothing - and so.... Well I put the seats as far forward as they would go and he willingly went in the passenger side - I drove the 3 and a half miles leaning slightly forwards. When I got there he wouldn't get out which was worrying and so I brought the ewes down which was an encouragment and with an extra push from me he was free and no unwanted extras in Mums car!

I confessed many years later!!! :D
