I would like some information on some of the old English herds such as the Raby, Grinstead, Pentre Hobyn and Elysian. In particular if anyone has the pedigrees on Raby Skipper, Grinstead Jackdaw and Peach Blossom 8th, also Pentre Hobyn Cobweb. Also the Doesmead herd as in Bobble, Daybreak2nd and Cambo. I am also stumped on Shootlands Peony's dam also Woodmagic Manikin 2nd. I could go on and on. I am really interested in bloodlines, I do have alot of information as I have spent hours doing searches for pedigrees so if anyone has any questions just ask I may be of some help. I would like to thank anyone who replies in advance.

I've had a look through my data base and I'm stumped on all those ones too. You must have cows with similar pedigrees to ours. :;):

Most likely Inger as our gene pool is small but growing in a big way! I am mostly researching my bull who has Geronimo in him. I have had alot of fun doing it and have 15 generations in places. Some lines are obviously lacking names as I still have alot of gaps that I am trying to fill in. It is so hard without the English having an online herd book.

Could you give the herd book numbers of the animals you are interested in. That will make it much easier to look for them.

Hi Louisa I have numbers for only a few of them, they are Shootlands Peony 1027, Pentre Hobyn Echo 1549, Vycanny Grosambers Grosenfant 1824 and Woodmagic Manikin 2nd 8874. Thank you very much.

Vycanny Grosamber's Grosenfant 1824:
Sire Elysian Primrose's Conqueror 1533
Dam Vycanny Conqueror's Grosamber 6550

Woodmagic Mannikin 8874 is not Woodmagic Mannikin 2nd:
which one do you want?

Pentre Hobyn Echo 1549:
Sire Pentre Hobyn Jungle 1471(Sire Braxted Barbarian 3rd 1392, Dam Penre Hobyn Jonquil 4th)
Dam Pentre Hobyn Emerald 9th 5976 (Sire Grinstead Merlin 1440, Dam Pentre Hobyn Emerald 8th 5681)

That's a start at any rate

Thanks for the help Louisa. Don't know about Manikin. However she is the dam of Woodmagic Rabbit 2nd. I at a guess would say is the daughter/grand-daughter of Mudstopper/Moorhen or Myna with her name beginning with M.

A couple more for you:
Pentre Hobyn Cobweb 1613
Sire Pentre Hobyn Joker 1523
Dam Cherry Ripe of Pentre Hobyn 6155

Doesmead Cambo 1960
Sire Doesmead Diabalo 1883
Dam Doesmead Camelia 7506

I can't help with Raby Skipper 1464 or Grinstead Peachblossom 8th 5830 as these were born/registered between 1940 & 1947 and I don't have herdbooks for those years.

Looking at my copy of Ped-e-view Raby Skipper was born on 1st May 1944. He was by Raby Handy Billy M1375 and out of Raby Red Sails ® F05493. Raby Skipper was black. There are no further details of his parents.

Grinstead Jackdaw M1570 was born 26/10/51. He was by Jambo Kisu M1519 and out of Marsh Daphne F05482
