Needles Hall Smartie (red heifer)with short black heifer calf at foot sold for 1300gns

Linford Kiwi ( short black just in calf 18 month old heifer) sold for 880gns

Northbrook Poppy ( short dun heifer in calf ) sold for 800gns

Congratulations to all - especially Duncan MacIntyre...Burnside Challenger came down to Dumfries Show last month as a preparation for the Melton sale and I thought him a nice wee fellow. Non-short yet not too big
Excellent

Small correction to details of Burnside Challenger - he is not a stage one bull, though his sire is. Just got back to Bute a few hours ago and have lots to sort out, so no time for a long post, but I am wll pleased with my sale and hope that the purchaser is just as pleased with the purchase. Nice to meet a few new faces and lots of familiar ones!!

I was really sad not to get to the sale too, as I had anticipated that it would be one not to be missed. I wanted to catch up with all the gossip too!
Well done Lisa and all the other vendors for putting forward such super stock.
I hope some of you can make it to York in October.

Not only did Needles Hall Mini Rolo set a new breed record but she was also Reserve interbreed champion on the friday something that has not been done at the show and sale I believe for the past 15 years.
Well done Lisa

I am very pleased Carolann has mentioned the interbreed judging, it certainly was very good to see the Dexter placed so high. The judge had his eye on the Longhorn much of the time, and many of us observers thought he had made his mind up almost before he started, but then we could see him having thoughts on the Dexter. For my money the Longhorn was not a particularly outstanding example and did not even have a good top line. I suppose I am saying that Lisa was robbed in my opinion - but the only opinion which made any difference was the judge on the day.

Overall the Dexters forward were of a much better standard than I saw at Melton two years ago, good to see such a decent bunch, and the prices certainly do the breed no harm.
I had hoped we would have seen more Dexter breeders along just to see the stock and socialise, it really should be a big day in our diaries. Do not miss it next year!!
