I certainly believe in the value of Dexters over larger breeds for grazing marshland, but I question the value of 17 freeranging in 43 acres for keeping scrub ar bay - they'd surely eat the abundant grass in preference. In my experience they only destroy the trees you've planted.

Picked up a copy of Northern Farmer at York mart and was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice article about Sue Rheam and the Ypsitty herd.

Yes the article about the Ypsitty herd is good,though I think Sue herself is a wee bit embarassed about the headline suggesting she has helped "save the breed" - but she does deserve credit for keeping the herd going, it is the oldest herd still in existence.

Good to see a flurry of publicity for Dexter cattle.
I appreciate Sue may be embrressed Duncan but she does deserve members thanks for her year of office as President.
I have met her at a couple of events as they say 'down South' where Sue has had to devote considerable time and effort in order to attend the events.
Sue has quietly gone about her role in what has been I feel an effective manner. Thanks Sue.

I can't agree more Sue has put in a terrific effort in order to go to SO many events! She attends in a quietly friendly manner, which puts people at their ease, a very, VERY nice lady. WELL DONE SUE!!!

Yes Sue deserves great recognition but being a modest person she never seeks publicity, and I most certainly did not intend to take anything away from the good publicity, simply to emphasise Sue's modest nature. She has indeed been a most worthy President.

A friend of mine had to have a dexter calf put down the week before last, 2 dogs attacked it tearing apart its testicles and tearing out its tongue, the dogs have not been caught but were seen by someone...not nice.
