Abattoir prices?

Hi,
Just wondering what price per kg. members on here are getting for finished cattle under 30 months? I'm in mid wales - Powys
If you don't mind me asking

selling to butchers, full carcass, £3.90/4.00 per kg deadweight and I pay killing of £80. Im in Leicestershire.

Thanks Mark, I have been offered 3.30 per kg with no other costs (other than transport) so probably about the same as you.

It may be a low price, depends how big your animal is.

I think he'll be about 190kg

I have been in touch with a different local but massive abattoir today and they didn't even want to talk about Dexter cattle, pity as they are lovely cattle and produce wonderful beef

Big abattoirs don't want wonderful beef, they want carcasses that match the size of their machines. Never mind that they are absolutely nuts to work with and bend heavy duty hurdles like pipe cleaners...

As regards price, I pay about £4 for the right animal, or rather I did do when we were short of steers last.

Thank you Rob, Most of our steers so far have sold by word & mouth to friends (they collect from abattoir) but next year I'm going to have to find many more beef eating friends or another outlet for steers
