I came across this site recently;

http://www.farmca.com/weight.html

and wondered how reliable the estimated weight would be for our Dexters. If anyone has opportunity to throw a tape around a friendly steer, and also has a set of robust bathroom scales or the like, I would be interested to know the result.
By the way, can I say in advance that I take no responsibility for any injuries or damage to stair carpet sustained during the attempt!

I use a Dalton Weighband, has figures in cms and kilos for cattle and pigs, you can also get them for horses. A quick look at Roy's site with a calculator in hand shows the fugures to be pretty similar. The only time I had the chance to check a weight by band against really accurate scales there was only a 2kg difference on a 550kg Dexter bull (Ilsington Bramble)
