Dexters grazing Peat Bog Areas

Post by Kate »

I wanted to know if anyone had experience of dexter's grazing or helping in a conservation project in and around a Peat Bog. I have been approached by the our regional departmental group in France who have bough 11.5 hectares of 'Lowland Peat Bog' - the last know peat bog remaining in our department (l'Allier) in France.

Thank you
Kate

Hi Kate,

I have conservation grazing rights for a 16 acre lowland bog which was cut for peat in mediaeval times and was traditionally grazed. It's now a nature reserve which has suffered from some encroachment from birch, so the cattle are helping to restore it. I graze it from May to October.

What sort of information are you looking for ?

Regards,

Colin
