We woke up to a new baby heifer, her name may be Eve for obvious reasons. She wasn't there at nightfall, but had been around for a good few hours by daylight, so I don't know if she is a D or an E heifer.
She is black, but looked red when I first saw her from the road, which could have had something to do with party-time frivolities.
Margaret.

Congratulations on the new calf Wagra dexters what a lovely suprise for a new year.
Saffy what lovely pics, it is nice to see your beasties still out. Pumpkin (cow) and co have been shut on the yard since christmas to give the grass a break. The steer is 14 months old now and Pumpkin is due to calve early April. I know it is a bit of a break but we didn't want her calving over the winter again so thought it would be a good idea to switch her to spring calving and then she can make the most of the summer grass.
Happy new year to everyone :D

Well done for getting a new toy Colin!
We also have snow!!! This is our heifer Mallard with her first calf a steer that she had at the end of March last year. The calf is on the right of the pic. He will be weaned in about a fortnight as she is due again in April. He is already quite a bit taller than his Mum but she still feeds him quite alot.

I notice there haven't been many pics posted lately. If anyone is unsure how to get them on here there are step by step instructions at the start of this thread.
This is a pic of most of our little herd taken a few nights ago.
And this is Pigeon trying to remember her Yoga position! :D
