What an oasis of calm this site is (and I bet a few months ago you would never have expected that to have been said ever again).
It has been my misfortune to join other sites recently where there are so many fraught people trying to hang on to there sanity while their life savings are returned to them in nail-bitingly random fashion.
Imagine a cow, known to be a difficult calver (obviously not a Dexter!) who keeps you waiting and waiting. It is always on your mind and you can't think about anything much else until it happens. Now multiply that feeling by several thousand times and you will get some idea of how it feels.
But being British there is a delightful vein of humour running through the posts. It is nice to get away for a while though.

It is a misconception that it was a 'high risk' investment. It was a savings account authorised in the UK just like all the others available and considered (until a couple of months ago) to be the safest way of saving. They were at the top of British Best Buy savings charts. There was no element of gambling on the stock market or anything like that. I would like to meet anyone who could prove they knew large banks would be brought to their knees before all this happened. Hind sight is a wonderful thing.
