I know that recently there have been more than a few worries about the spread of disease but I haven't noticed many opportunities advertised for visiting herds, open days etc. Is this entirely due to bio security issues and therefore likely to be an activity that will be resumed?
Or are there usually very few herd visits open days available in the Dexter World?

Hi Saffy,
if you ever fancy a visit to sunny North Yorkshire, you are very welcome to come and visit my herd. It is quite a large herd, and there are many other nice herds is the area, so I could arrange a tour for you!!
Biosecurity always should be an issue, and we should protect ourselves, but not letting people visit would be a shame. Only midges are not welcome! I am always happy for people to drop in and "talk Dexter", I can do this for hours, so that people will be backing away towards their cars!!

As it was only yesterday, I would like to say how much we enjoyed hosting the meeting of the Cornwall Dexter Group in Rilla Mill and having the members visit the herd following the meeting.
I am very much of the opinion that visits to other herds provides great opportunities to see and hear of other methods of working with the heard, that even reading this wonderful forum does not provide.
It was a fine day and very helpful to hear the views of various members about our stock, I know there are concerns quite rightly about bio security, but I am also of the opinion that often we lose a lot in life on the chance that possibly something may happen.
Finally a thanks to all those who visited and made it such a pleasing visit for both of us.
