This is our newly purchased in calf heifer Woodmagic Martin. She has only just been turned out as we isloate any new animals for 2 weeks before letting them near the other cattle to try to prevent any possible cross over of infection. We also use this time to get the new animal as quiet as possible and used to being around us.

The picture below shows Chris trying to convince Martin to take a Mag Roll from his hand before Mallard strip searches him for it!!!

This is Mallard the heifer that had the caesarian 6 weeks ago, she was pretty wild when we bought her last October but she has to be the softest thing on 4 legs now and we love her to bits!

Don't worry her udder is only lopsided because the calf hadn't finished breakfast.

I get these from Hay and Brecon Farmers but the intention is to feed at the rate of 2lb a day per adult cow to prevent magnesium deficiency which we are doing but one or two get hand fed as well from time to time!

I know Mole Valley in Devon also do them and would imagine you can get a similar product in most areas.

I get mine with a BOCM label on, not sure where the stuff is made but it may well be north of England somewhere. Veronica Schofield may well be able to help with north of England suppliers.

They're made by "BOCM Pauls" and they have a website where I imagine you can find local suppliers. Last time I had sheep rolls I had to order them. Some manufacturers have now stopped producing rolls because they break up into powder too easily I am told.

Suckler Cow Magnesium rolls are code product "0670".
