I have some a couple of over 30 months cows but born after 96 which are now barren and would like them to be put to sleep. I do not want to take them to an abbatoir. They could not be described as casualty animals. I do not want anything for them. Am I allowed to have them shot by the huntsman from my local hunt on my premises and disposed of? They will charge me a small fee for this.

I also have two Older Cows. Again I do not want them to go to an abbatoir or collection centre. I have read on here that it is possible to have them culled at home and disposed of free of charge thru the Fallen Stock scheme (the hunt cannot take them). Who do I contact about this?

Nick, you should have received an Older Cattle Disposal Scheme Producer's Handbook
(RPA(L)25) this should answer your queries. If you haven't got it/can't get it I'll read through mine and let you know.
