can somebody please please please help me? I am entering new territory and need help. My Dexter heifer should be in calf now and I find myself not knowing who to go to when it comes to A.I. I know what sort of bull I am looking for but I don't know if the vets do the actual insemination or if I have to go to somebody else. If anybody could enlighten me please do as I am desperately in need of help.

Hi. You dont say where you are, if you are in the UK, what area? You have to open an account with either Genus or a local independant AI tech. You then order your selected semen from either the DCS or a private breeder as advertised in the bulletin, to be delivered to your AI tech. Wait for your heifer to come bulling. A phone call to your AI tech should then result in a visit and with a bit of luck, a pregnant heifer!
If you say where you are - someone may recommend a local AI service. Genus semen store at Towcester (01327 350151) should be able to put you in touch with your local Genus AI tech. Independant Tech's tend to be cheaper.
