I have had a movement restriction slapped on me by Defra, as my vet hasn't come out to do my 4 year TB test. Because of this, one of my steers has missed the 30 month deadline. I live in Kent, and there are no approved butchers to deal with over 30 months stock anywhere near me.
If someone wants him (because they have a butcher near to them or want a "pet") please contact me. He is a short legged red. He was 30 months last week.

Chitty's of Guildford is your nearest one. They will do private kill as well but I don't know about cutting up.
Where abouts in Kent are you? If not too far our butcher could cut it up for you, if you got it killed at Chitty's and get the carcass to us - near Dover- if that would help.
I think you should have a word with your vet. I believe you can move to slaughter even with a "shut down" notice on you.

I think Di is right about being able to move direct to slaughter with TB restrictions on, but only under licence - check this with your local DEFRA office or SVS or whaterver they are this week. On no account move without getting a licence, they don't like that.
As general point on this one, all cattle keepers should get a letter from the ministry telling them when the test is due, and the window before that when it can be done, usually 3 months. They have to a great extent put the onus on the farmer to contact the vet now, and if the LVI is unable to do it in time I think the ministry try to get it done themselves or offer it to another practice. A point to watch is that what they term "Due Date" means the date by which the test should be done and all the paperwork processed - best to allow a week for that.

I'm stuck in a similar situation, with a stop notice because I could not get the TB test done in time however I have nothing due to go at present. I had the letter, I told my vet when he came out for something else, he said that's OK I'll sort it when I get back. I waited (because I don't like bothering them unnecessarily). Then I got worried so I did contact them. Hey presto, he'd told the person arranging it, they'd forgotten. Because of pressure of work and the size of my herd I am having to wait 6 weeks for the test. The moral of this story - put the request in writing to your vet!! Oh and you can send animals straight to slaughter under these notices.

I must be lucky as my vet practice informs me when any test is due. All I have to do is phone to arrange a visit, the last time which was in December and the visit was arranged for 3 days later.
For those of you that have to wait for so long, you have my simpathy, what will hapen now that we have pre-movement testing? selling stock will be a nightmare for you.
Martin.
