It would be very useful, both to individual breeders and the development of the breed, if people could take useful pictures of their stock. How can people assess the stock advertised on this site when so many have no picture, and most of the pictures that there are are just fun snaps? It would also be good to have a profile each year of the pictures of show winners, bull of the year etc, which many other breeds (limousin and hereford to name just two) have found very useful. An annual national show and sale (why not tag on with perth or carlisle?) might also be good idea along these sort of lines....

Anyone wishing to see pictures of some of my herd can go to http://uk.geocities.com/duncan.....es.html where they will see some of them. If anyone does look I am happy to hear comments.

Much enjoyed your pictures but isn't it difficult to take good photos of bulls? The females pose beautifully (at least sometimes) and you caught them but Pontius turned his head around, spoiling the effect! Typical. I hadn't realised that he is red Jo

I suppose it all depends on how patient the one behind the camera is, especially when taking them loose rather than on a halter.

Pontius is Dun, maybe the picture is not too good!!

I could go on and on about Dexter photos, very very few people have the patience to take a good picture, so there are few good photos around.I must say that some of the pics to advertise cattle on the website that have been sent to me i havent dared to use, they were so bad the owners would have never sold their stock.
Its right, and a good description, fun snaps.Education to promote the breed is needed, theres no excuse these days with digital cameras, i have hundreds of pics of my cattle, just to get a handfull of good ones.

Duncan's pictures, of his females at least, are perfectly good enough, but a rare example! It is difficult to take good photos, but with the animal haltered and stood up properly, with a little sky beneath him, it ois possible to get a good picture with a few hours patience. There is no real excuse for not having good pictures of show winners, because the big shows at least are teeming with photographers - you just need to find out who they are and ask them!
