Helloooo,

Advice Please!

I have heard that a herd......pardon the pun...Locally is for sale.
It is near Crickhowell in Powys, belongs to a ChristopherTaylor.
He has 60 apparently and I thought there must be a good one or two there.

Does anyone know the herd?

Any advice on choosing, I would like to go to a couple of shows with them in the future and have a fair bit of cattle experience but not with dexters.

To all that are looking for Dexters to buy, why not visit the Melton Mowbray Rare Breeds Sale sale on 10th Sept.
Buy with confidence knowing all the stock will have been inspected.Check in the cattle for sale under red cows to see Needles Hall Mini Rolo who will be auctioned along with her short heifer calf, that is a sample of the quality of Dexters for sale on the day.
Contact the Auctioneers for a catalogue on 01664 562971
P.S. there will be 800 rare breed sheep for sale as well!!!

I will be there selling Burnside Challenger. a homebred bull out of a homebred cow and by Shilton Pontius. He will be two yrs six months by time of sale, tested non bulldog carrier but not extreme long leg. I blood tested him for BVD, IBR and lepto earlier this year, all clear tests. I have since vaccinated him against BVD so he is protected from picking it up at shows and sales.

It will be good to put faces to some of the names seen on the discussion board, so if any of you are there please make yourselves known. There will be a buffet/social do on the Friday night, tickets from the auctioneers as far as I know.

By the way, do you all have yellow smily faces??

Ah well, a beard hides a multitude of sins, and it is illegal to remove it after 15th April for fear of disturbing birds nests, just like burning heather.

Duncan, who has been known to smirk behind the beard on occasions.

Are you going to the dexter sale at bristol also ?? We are going to bristol and will definately have a yellow smily face there as it's only about an hour from us :)
But fear that Melton Mowbray is a bit far away so if I did manage it would probably have a tired yellow face !!!! :(

I expect it will take you longer than me though - will you be smiling !!:p

Jo

ps - Beryl's book is a really good read !! We have had three heifer calves by Hedgehog this year and it is really nice to have a picture of him !! :) :)

Sorry to dissappoint you but according to this weeks Farmers Guardian Bristol Mkt. has closed because the owner & auctioneers could not agree on a new lease. However the auctioneers do say they will be holding the pedigree sales at other venues.
