I've just posted my entries:
1) black heifer with heifer calf at foot, well handled at home and double suckles another cow's calf. Will be shown at Wolsingham
2) black heifer born Feb, basic halter training done, will be shown at Wolsingham.
Anyone else taking stock or looking to buy?

Heifers duly went to Wolsingham show. Anna-Maria, first time away from mum, 2nd of 5 (split the Planetree entries) & second with Michelle in pairs class. Tamarind, the calf at foot, went round the ring without mum. Gytha was spooked by the bar generator starting up as her class was due to go in the ring, so stayed in the lines where she eventually got used to the noise.

I wouldn't call today pretty good. Heifer with heifer calf at foot only made £355. Baby maiden heifer made £340. I don't understand the logic of that.

I am told by the owner that Arnaby Rob Roy EX92 sold for 1700gns, that's a steady price for a bull, decent bulls should be fetching these sorts of prices.

Yesterday I received back the pedigree certificate for the calf at foot, which had been sent to DCS & then forwarded to me. It's been marked by the mart with the lot number & the dam's card would appear to have been passed on to the purchaser. I phoned the mart & they promised to get back to me with the purchaser's address, so I can post it on. I'm still waiting.
This isn't the first time, when I had a heifer not forward a couple of years ago, the pedigree certificate came back via DCS too.
It's a requirement on the entry form to submit pedigree certificates with entries.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Or could anyone involved with the Dexter sale organisation kindly give the auctioneers a nudge.
I was singularly unimpressed that the cattle auctioneer did not come down the lines beforehand to discuss pricing.
John Thornborrow's influence has sadly waned.
