Turn Out

A glorious day and cabin fever was mounting so everyone outside for a gallop in the sunshine. The bull wasn't quite on message and thought he would sneak inside to bagsy a pen for the full waitress service while the girls were outside. Having had a lot more time to spend with the cattle this winter, especially handling the calves, it wasn't as fraught as some years, though still interesting as a winter's worth of insults were repaid!

I'm still waiting on an electric fence unit to come through the post but even so the ground is still a bit wet, even though we've had some decent weather this week. A couple of heifers have decided it's already time though, but they seem to enjoy sleeping in the feed for the others. Hopefully by next winter we'll have the building and yard a little more finished & more cow-proof...

bull, steers and a couple of incalf heifers been out a couple of weeks, moving them away this weekend, possibly turning some cows with calves out, though we have some going to york in a week so maybe keep the rest in to stop them getting upset seeing the others out.
can anyone recommend a solar panel for charging a fencer, could do with one for a remote field to save having to swap batteries

Hello there Duncan!
That would be a very fashionable mix of dandelions, docks and thistles, I could keep some seed and send it up to you at a very expensive rate per ounce?!

I haven't got one myself yet, but I'm thinking of getting one this year for when the cows are grazing in the Ings & I've always been very happy with the service & quality of fencers from

I decided to save money and buy one from ebay this time - unfortunately the seller used a useless courier (UKMail) and now there's no chance of getting it before Wednesday. Typical, turnout is delayed even more.
