Re Dexters wanted

Post by ann »

I see we have another request under wanted for more dexters for Ireland, the weather here to day has been so miserable and our yards outside have ice where you don't expect to see it, nearly went a cromper 3 times today, it almost makes you feel like selling the lot, but what would i do then without my lovely dexters :( :(

Hang in there, summer is on the way...

I'm getting a bit fed up of the Irish tbh, they seem to have money burning a hole in their pockets & by the time you've responded to an ad or got the money together, the Irish have swooped in & snapped them up.

Yes, but it feels like we've been in winter for months now, so I'm feeling more than halfway through. :)

I've been out in the fields gathering up electric fence today though and the weather was nice and mild, the grass looks to have grown since we housed and I don't want the Irish to have your cows...

Southern ireland government gives a huge subsidy for keeping Dexters. Was something around 200 euros per adult animal when I last heard! This is on top of single farm payment. Don't sell cheaply!!!
Irish farmers are just buying so they can get subsidy.

That explains a lot - do you know why they should want to subsidise Dexters? No wonder the country's finances are up the spout... :?
