Prospective buyers should mark the 22nd September in the diary, the date of the Carlisle Show and Sale.
There are 3 bulls, 50 females about 20 of which have calves at foot, three steers and 2 cross females for sale, from 14 different consigners. Prefixes in the catalogue will include Ashieburn, Bankend, Bay Rigg, Breoch, Cresswell, Fothergill, Harron, Nithsdale, Penny Bridge, Planetree, Redfern,Swinburne, Whalton Manor, Windyknowe and Zanfara.
This sale has seen a good trade for the last two years, with no silly prices but almost everyanimal sold and for the most part both buyers and sellers happy, so lets hope this year will be the third. It is a good opportunity for buyers to see a variety of cattle from a numbe of well known lines in an inspected sale.

I don't suppose the steers had liveweights on them, did they Duncan?

I think the steers were about 300, 250 and 250kgs Rob. they were, as you would expect from Veronica, in very good condition.
I don't know what information Dom Smith has on the dimensions of my pockets(most have holes in them) but as a result of the purchase of Harron Loyal Commando my own young bull Burnside Kinsman will now be on the market and should appear on this site soon. He is about 15 months old, has run with some heifers this summer, and has been reared in the usual Burnside way with absolutely no concentrate feed and no fertiliser used on the grass. He is by Owram Electric Eric,(an Apple Joe son) and Burnside Candytuft, a fourth generation Burnside cow and herself dam of 4 cows and heifers in the Burnside herd.

Thanks - I'm glad I wasn't there then, as I'd find it hard to resist temptation, and really need more infrastructure before more cattle, but infrastructure never has the same effect as buying more animals...
