We went to the Royal Welsh Show yesterday, sadly we missed the judging, there were only two dexter bulls there that we could see. This Withybrook bull, who won and another younger looking bull.

All the dexters there looked well turned out and were in lovely condition the dexters seemed to have more public interest than other breeds.

There was some reasonable coverage on BBC2 Wales' daily highlights on Monday night.

They followed Gareth Hamer of Burry Port in the show preparation and judging.

For those of you outside Wales you may be interested to know that the Show received 95 mins pf peak time coverage each night on S4C, the Welsh language channel. How many other shows get that amount of air time and I believe that was on top of live shows during the day.

Unfortunately, tihe subtitles either didn't work or were so far behind the commentary as to be meaningless!

I went up on Wednesday - huge attendance under a relentess sun. Could the National Show be at Llanelwedd one day?

Re TV coverage for the Royal Welsh. It was on live every day on S4c, If you use the red button selection you can select commentary in English. It is a great pity that the English Royal show folded as watching the Royal welsh demonstrates what a great advert it is for agriculture and rural pursuits in Wales .

If you look on BBC 2 (Wales) iplayer for Monday 23rd you will see Gareth Hamer etc. but you will have to be quick as I think it is only on for seven days so will end tomorrow, good advert for Dexters.Well done to Gareth and all who entered animals.
