Does anyone have any 'official' figures such as BCMS or society data? Thanks in advance.

ETA - I have already read this thread on the subject, just wondered if it had gone up any.

According to the RADAR Cattle Book there were 26,500 (inc Dexter-sired crosses) in the UK in 2008. That's the latest RADAR book I think Rob.

Here I am !!!!
The actual figures for 2008 alive at 31 december
Dexter females 17486
males 7926
Dexter sired
females 847
males 440
I don't have the corresponding figures for the following years but have the live birth numbers
Pure Dexter only
females males
2009 3239 3353
2010 3426 3607
2011 3441 3530

Interestingly they do reflect the generally held thought that it is a 50/50 female/male birth ration.
Not too sure what the death rate is so would be a guess at the % national herd numbers at the end of 2011 would be something between 24 and 26,000 females

Bye again
