Shrewsbury Traditional and Rare Breed Sale is this coming Saturday, 2nd July 2011. Quite a few Dexters in there. And if you're looking for some sheep to graze amongst trees and produce great meat lambs, it's also the Shropshire Sheep Breeders’ National Show and Sale (West).

Here's the catalogue:

Here's a link to the auctions page with map etc:

We're not selling this year, but we will be going to have a look.

Yes, I was there throughout the sale, but not buying. Prices were OK, one cow with calf went for 600+gns if I remember correctly. Most reasonably decent animals were in the 300's and 400's. All sorts there.

But anything "deer-like", especially if it had horns, went for very little.

There was even a very small chondro brindle bull, with horns, which was sold as not being registered, but registerable!

I think that's quite a good idea, I once drove a long way to see a young bull who was supposed to be red, but was brindle when I got there and the lady was quite put out when I explained that I would not be buying him for this reason, telling me what a good pedigree he had. :( :(

No sorry, I didn't see the sheep sale Monica, but I go in there every week so I'll try and find out.
