Hi Everyone

I went to check a newbys dexters over the weekend as they had requested some advice and on checking their paperwork discovered that the person they had brought their dexters from had sold them a cow with the wrong paperwork as the ear number on the passport did not match the one on the pedigree certificate, so the wrong cow has been transfer into their name, now I tried to check out the informatoon for them via the heard book as the breeder of the cow was on the passport, but there is no record of the breeder in the herd book, not sure why this is, (I'm sure a council members will tell us why) I'm sure this can be sorted, and I hope when the people get the correct pedigree form that they don't have to pay new transfer fees.

However this mistake just shows how pedigrees can soon be incorrect as fortunetly this cow had a steer so there is not a problem there but if the other cow has had a heifer then that will be wrong to.

I hope by me sharing this problem with everyone, people will double check when they sell or buy new animals that the ear numbers are the same on the pedigree and the passport, otherwise pedigrees become a nonsense.

Hi Ann
Is the the breeder still a member of the society? Could you give the office a call and speak to the Secretary, she will be able to give the answers you require.

Hi Ken

Its appears the person who applied for the animals passport has never been a menber of the society, Elaine is going to and try and sort it with the current owner, who is going to contact her
